Our Staten Island Martial Arts School believes that martial arts is more than fitness and combat... we believe it makes people better on the inside, too.

For thousands of years, the belief that martial arts is a path to amazing health-promoting experiences has held true.

We've seen students develop stronger characters, experience more joy in life, and learn powerful self-defense techniques which helped them to become very physically fit.

Here are 5 things you can expect from our classes that you may not have realized before today...

#1: A Confidence Boost

Martial arts presents you with all kinds of challenges. The techniques themselves are new and different than anything you're likely used to.

You might even get frustrated at times when you can't do them "perfectly" right away. This is totally normal!

With practice, you WILL master these techniques, and then you'll look back and realize how much you've accomplished. When you do this, your confidence soars.

In fact, this often happens within just a week or two of starting. It's truly great to see.

#2: Increased Focus

Learning new skills and mastering techniques requires a lot of concentration! When you learn how to focus your mind and concentrate on a task at hand in a new way, it tends to spill over into other areas of your life as well.

For kids, they often start focusing better in school very quickly. Homework becomes less of a chore; they pay attention better in class, and are more dedicated to chores around the house.

For adults, they find themselves being more productive and focused at work, and achieving greater things.

It's amazing how much of a difference improved focus makes in our lives.

#3: Get in Amazing Shape

Physical fitness is crucial for a happy life. When you're fit, you have more energy, you can think more clearly, and feel happier overall. Plus, how about simply not having to groan from just getting up from the couch?!

A big portion of our classes is spent on improving your fitness. But we do it in a "functional" way that helps you in everyday life. As you get fitter, you also get more coordinated, balanced, and flexible.

This translates into amazing martial arts skills too!

#4: Become Part of a Community

A big part of our martial arts school is our community. We call each other brothers and sisters for a reason. As you train you will become close with fellow students and encourage each other to do well.

We've created an environment that fosters friendships and support. Members, both children and adults, make friends, form bonds, and help each other learn and grow.

For example, if you need help with a technique a more experienced fellow member, while supervised by our instructors, is encouraged to help you and vice versa.

#5: Have Tons of FUN!

Intense focus is broken up with laughter and tons of fun. After all...all work and no play never served anyone! And it doesn't serve us either. We want you to be at your best.

That's why every class is injected with fun and excitement. You'll laugh, smile, and the time will fly by.

We mix a perfect blend of fun activities and games in all our Staten Island kids martial art classes to keep kids' attention. But at the same time, we go beyond the traditional martial arts techniques to impart discipline and a deeper sense of respect to our students. MMA - or mixed martial arts - was developed for competition and sport. It uses striking techniques, and grappling and wrestling techniques. Fights involve situations where the fighters are either standing or on the ground. MMA's roots go back to ancient Olympics.

It's evolved over the centuries, making its way to Asia, the Pacifc Rim, and Europe in the 1900s. Today, MMA training is used for competitions, or for a great workout that's a ton of fun. Whatever your goals are with MMA - we'll help you get there.
